Who else could take the US's place, and when will that happen. Any thoughts on the EU, China, the Middle East?

It's a good question. I think the US has the most advanced and powerful military in the world, so it is possible that it will remain the superpower for a long time unless enough countries band together to take it on politically, economically, or even physically. I think the general feeling in the world is that the US is getting too big for its britches, but nobody is doing anything about it except the terrorists.

As long as we can keep China at bay. They're the only ones who have the power to take over, but since they're communists, they will probally never become so global, plus China has several obstacles in its way to becoming what the US is. The EU and Middle East, dont make me laugh. With out oil, the Middle East is the crap heap, and the EU is too cowardly.

China may be big, they may be buying up and steeling quite a bit of technology, but they can not keep their people happy with the promise they will be number one with very little improvement in their standard of living. The guy that stood in front of the tank in Tinamen Square was basically saying, "I'm not very happy". The US is a superpower because the majority of the population is happy. Every "country" on the face of the planet may hate us but, the majority of people in those countries would LOVE to move here, yes even the French.

China is the only comparison to the US and they are more and more western influenced. China will be an ally in decade to come along the lines of Britian.

So many countries hate the US now, that it would be hard to say who will become stronger than us, or when. If Dubya would remember that he is Pres. of the US, and not King of the World, it might be different.
