Go tell the Russians about astronomical death tolls of soldiers. Do you realize how many soldiers died in WWII? Probably not or you wouldn't ask this question. Our soldiers are not treated worse than criminals either. I'm sure that many of them did not plan on going to war, but they all knew the risks just like I did. Why didn't you mean to offend anyone? There is no constitutionally guaranteed right to not be offended. Offend all you want.

Because the people being sent to Iraq are not being punished. They are there because they chose to join the armed forces, many wanted to go to Iraq, many just wanted to pay for college, many don't want to be there, but they made a commitment. You can't join the armed forces because you want to go to college for free and then back out when war is declared. I have thought of the idea of sending prisoners to Iraq or other places where there is conflict, however, do you think it would be a good idea to get murderers, rapists, and the like and give them guns and and combat training? Besides I know many people who are overseas right now and some more who will be in the future and if you talk to any of them for a few minutes you'll realize that not everyone is against the war, they are proud patriotic Americans who feel what they are doing is right for their country, and who put their lives on the line for people who not only don't appreciate what they are doing for them, but who often times ostracize them for what they are doing. Now there are people in Iraq who don't wish to be there, but what I have to say to them is "you shouldn't have joined the arm forces if you didn't want to go to war" because once you swear in you are no longer a civilian you have no say you have to do what you are told whether you like it or not. Our government pays for peoples college if they join the armed forces and serve their country, but many Americans just want a free ride and don't want to serve their country, and I say that they are lucky to be given the chance in the first place, many other countries force you to join anyway and they don't pay you a thing, I'm sure the militants in Iraq aren't going to go to college after they're done. That's just another thing people are taking for granted these days, maybe prisoners should be sent to Iraq, naturally they'll have to be set free when they come back, we have to give them some incentive to risk their lives, and maybe we should have those unwilling soldiers take their places in jail, and we'll see what those people prefer, I'm sure you'll have prisoners jumping at the opportunity to go to Iraq with the smallest incentive.

You really want to give prisoners guns and expect them to shoot the right people. Our young soldiers are trained and paid for this job and know how to work as a team to get the task done. Criminals only look out for themselves. They would probably just escape and join the terrorists.

I've thought about that for a lot of years--and not only those on death row--but those with life sentences, too. They sometimes do let prisoners volunteer to test new pharmacy drugs, so why not send them over there? I hate that our young, intelligent, boys are over their risking their lives.

That's a really good idea. Lets ship all the cons up and dump them in the middle of the war! I don't think it would help us win the war, but it would get rid of a big problem here.

I know how you feel but really if you send prisoners over there they are now free do you think their gonna fight for our country
also the kids signing up for the army know the risks too so they have to ask them selves is this really worth it?/ when you sign up for the army you are now committed to them & you have to do what they say......

What the hell. If you send prisoners over, it's going to be worse than it is right now.

The military is wrong in giving college education incentives, however your solution is no better... giving weapons to inhumane criminals? hmm... that could only result in one thing: defection... creating more enemies of our country. Another stupid question, good job.
