There are lots of outdoor things, just be careful in the heat of the day and drink lots of water. Drive up to Sandia Crest, check out Old Town, visit the Petroglyphs on the West Side, go for a stroll in the evening around Nob Hill and check out the shops. A quick day trip could take you up to the plaza area in Santa Fe. For nightlife, Nob Hill and downtown (especially on Fridays and Saturdays) are usually hopping with clubs and music.

They have a hot air balloon festival in October, I think. I've seen pictures. The balloons are very pretty.
