Depending on the type of energy you wish to know about estimates are anywhere from 15,000 years to about 48 million years, though most agree that an average of between 40,000 to 1,000,000 years is the most likely result. Whats the leason here? Randomization and re-emitance can wreak havoc if your some guy trying to make good travel time.

the energy produced in the core is in the form of photons.a photon from the solar core takes 30,000 years(according to earth's time) to reach the solar surface.it collides with gas particles giving it a random path . at each collision the photon loses energy and may split into many more photons. starting as a gamma ray in the core, it emerges from the surface as a burst of photons of visible light.

It take only 8 minutes from the surface to reach us, but it takes several thousand years (like 30000 or so) for light to exit the sun.
Picture the sun as a crowded hallway. There are many people/materials in the suns case inm the way. THe light is getting bumped around constantly, and has to keep taking different paths to reach the surface.

Typically, a single photon of light energy can take several million years to reach the sun's surface, if it doesn't get totally absorbed before getting there. Neutrinos, although less abundant than photons, can make the journey much faster.

I remember doing a calculation like this in my heat transfer course. From what I recall it came out to something over 29,000 years. That was a best case scenario, and it could actually take many more times that. Sorry I don't have my notes to look up right now.
