Because the best women in the world would lose to a good male college team.

nitemere11, there aren't any women good enough to play in the major leagues. If there were, baseball would jump all over the opportunity. Calling people sexist because they speak the truth is ignorant.

Have you ever seen "A League of Their Own"? That was based on a true story. There really was a women's professional baseball league in the 1940s, but it only lasted a few years before folding.

Maybe it's time to try again, but I don't know too many women who play baseball after Little League. High school and collegiate athletes seem to focus on softball - which isn't the same sport at all.

There was a womens league because all of the men were fighting in the war.

Honestly, the best womens bodies aren't set up to compete with the best men. In the olympics, the womens world records are always much worse than the mens. In the WNBA, only a few women can dunk, when almost anyone in the NBA can.

It's not sexist, it's biology. Bodies are built to serve differnt purposes and have eveloved differently because of this.

Because women typically play softball, although there used to be a team called the Silver Bullets that played professional baseball. I am pretty sure they were quite good.

There isn't enough intrest from fans to get it off the ground. WNBA womans basketball seams on the surface to do good but if you ever go to a game you will see all the fans in the lowest seats. The upper seats are completly empty. They draw like 2500-5000 per game in a stadium(arena) that fits 16-18,000. Just lack of intrest would keep me from investing.

Women have tried out for MLB teams before, and none have made it. Calling it sexist is a cop out. There simply isn't a woman capable of playing at that level right now. If there was, she would be playing.

Because sports, are stereotyped to be full of testosterone and sweat and most women don't get into to the sport scene as much as the men. Hopefully someday we can be as profitable and appreciated as jocks as much as they are. But until then keep trying ladies and someday we might get there.
