That might be an option. However, given that the Iranian government can cause the US Government considerable heartache by stirring up the Shia in Iraq and this would probably happen in any case if the Iraqi Shi'ites, the majority population in Iraq were to get upset. That is why the US Government with the Europeans is working to achieve a peaceful resolution to the problem through the UN Security Council. Iran is expected to respond soon to these overtures.

According to the UN IAEA, Iran does not possess nuclear weapons, or even weapons-grade uranium. On March 6, 2006, Mohamed ElBaradei, Director General of the IAEA, reported that "the Agency has not seen indications of diversion of nuclear material to nuclear weapons or other nuclear explosive devices."

However, Iran has only just announced (April 11, 2006) that it enriched uranium to fuel-grade which is about 3.5% enriched. On May 12, 2006, highly enriched uranium - well over the 3.5% enriched level - was reported to have been found "at a site where Iran has denied such sensitive atomic work." "They have found particles of highly enriched uranium [HEU], but it is not clear if this is contamination from centrifuges that had been previously found [from imported material] or something new," said one diplomat close to the UN International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). These reports have not yet been officially confirmed by the IAEA as of June 1, 2006. On 12 June, Mohammed ElBaradei criticised Iran for not making information available.

If Dictator Bush gets his way we will. It would be a very bad move and suicidal politically and nationally. Iran still has a lot of support for developing "peaceful" nuclear energy. If this is the case though, I have to question why they will not allow observers to check them out. They have to have something to hide from the world if they are nto willing to let people see what they are doing.

no way, anything to spent more money on foreign wars is not popular right now.

plus typhoon season just started with alberto, theres more to come (as an example). the public might not be too keen on spending money elsewhere when it's needed at home, specially with the current disfavor in the public regarding this administration.

not likely, they are very well protected and we now have a no first strike police on nuclear weapons. Plus Iran being very reactionary we could do more harm than good.
If anybody would do it ,it would probity be the Israelis.

Depends on what Iran does. If they stop and take the gifts they are being given to stop, then no. If they continue to defy the will of most of the world and continue to make weapons uranium, then yes, there will probably be joint UN action against them.
