Windows 2000 has a firewall!
You can find it in the TCP-IP properties of the network adapter (TCP-IP Filter)

It's not a sensation but that is the XP SP2 firewall neither.

FOR THOSE WO mean that the TCP-IP Filter ist not a firewall, please read this article:

http://homepages.wmich.edu/~mchugha/w2kfirewall.htm

and tell me, what can you do with XP SP2 that you can't do with the one from Win2000

Windows 2000 Pro does *not* have a built-in host firewall. Windows XP SP2 was the first Windows release to contain such, and even that is outbound only, it does nothing with inbound connections.

The TCP/IP filter referred to above is not and should not be confused with a firewall.

It does not have a built in firewall. IP filtering is not considered a firewall.
