And do most people who live in Jersey City or Long Island say that they live in NYC? I think they do.

I used to live in Jersey City and would say that I lived New York when talking to people who weren't from the New York metropolitan area. Now I live in Manhattan and I still say that I live New York... because I do.

Jersey City is like the sixth borough. L.I. is a little far. To me, Jersey City has always been as much a part of NYC as Brooklyn, Queens, Bronx and Staten Island.

I live on Long Island (and I don't live in a dirty nasty part out in Suffolk County), thanks. I would never claim that and I wouldn't ever want to live in the city. I'm not a city person at all. It can stay there, I can stay here. :)

Many people have the misconception that LI is a lot like the city, which it is entirely different especially farther out where I am.. and that bothers me A LOT. The area I am in represents the city in no way, shape or form.

I love NYC and I grew up in the midwest. It was just a great city with that great city vibe!

I think L.I. and the whole freakin city is nasty, its dirty and I dont know why anyone would want to or think its good to claim that you are from any of those.
