Although my wife's father performed fuel calculations for the original Apollo landing, I'll spare you that speech. Instead, I will encourage you to watch two programs. The first show is called Conspiracy Moon Landing that it currently showing on the National Geographic Channel and it pretty much obliterates all of the popular conspiracy theories.

I would also encourage you to watch a movie called Capricorn One. Made it 1978, it is a fictional story about a fake mission to Mars. Although it is a science fiction story, it is a good example of how utterly impossible it would be to fake a moon landing for any length of time.

12 men walked on the moon from 1969 to 1972 and we have neither the resources nor the technology to pull off that big of a hoax for so long. Hundreds of thousands of people have worked on the space program. It would be far easier to put someone on the moon than to try and fake it and keep it secret for nearly 40 years.

The landings came at a time when our space program was ultra competitive with the former Soviet Union. Remember how big of a deal it was when Sputnik was put into orbit? They had the technology to monitor our moon shots and transmissions. Don't you think they would have called us out if they had evidence that it was all fake?

Perhaps the most definitive proof of our trip to the moon is what we left behind. For the last 35+ years, scientists have been beaming lasers to the moon and measuring the return times. How are they doing this? The beams are reflected back by equipment left on the moon on at 3 different locations.

Case closed.

Well, up until the mid 80's, NASA as still monitoring the moon for laser ranging, moon quakes etc. http://www.astronautix.com/craft/apoalsep.htm
from equipment placed by the Apollo crews (11, 12, 14, 15,16,17) Anyways it is still possible, if a person REALLY wanted to, to get in touch with the right people and do more laser ranging off that same equipment. Also, one was to research the astronomical record, I believe they would find pictures and video of the sun "glinting" off the Command Service Module as it orbited the moon while the Luner Excursion Module was moon bound. If there was a massive cover up, someone went to allot of trouble and money to do it.
I personally believe that the MOST convincing argument though is this: I come from a multigenerational military background and it is my experience that NO ONE can keep a secret that is so large and encompassing as "we never landed on the moon" or the government has a UFO from the 40's or 50's. It's simple, if many people are involved, someone as they get older or near death, is going to "spill the beans" to children or loved ones because any rational person would understand that some information is more important than any government .

Here's one for ya:
Go get some baby powder. Have your friend puff some of it into the air. Now, watch how long it takes to fall to the ground. Now, hopefully your friend can understand that technology cannot build a vacuum chamber big enough to be used as a movie set--anything built that big turned into a vacuum inside would implode and collapse. The lunar surface "topsoil" has the consistency over the majority of its surface of baby powder due to the moon getting impacted by asteroids and other objects. Now, watch videos of GM's Lunar Rover. Watch as the dust kicked up by its wheels immediately falls back to the surface. Why? No air on the moon for the dust particles to float in.
Or watch the video of the Hammer and Falcon Feather Drop of (I think) Apollo 15 where one of the astronauts dropped a hammer and feather and they both hit the ground at the same time. Again since there was no air resistance for the feather and, as we all know, all objects fall at the same rate.

Ask him how he knows there is a county called Nepal? Has he been there? Does he know anyone who has been there? A video...that was a backlot in Hollywood.

He can go to the Smithsonian and see a moon rock...which has been tested and proved to be not of this Earth. Or have him watch the Mars Rovers at JPL...obviously these folks are not standing around studying a vast hoax.

Ask him if he believes that there are now 2 rovers on Mars. And if there are satellites circling the Earth. Or whether or not that there are shuttles taking off into space regularly. Tell him, that these things and more are happening now, and that what happened back then was just the beginning, except that it was fresh to the world that was watching.

If he doesn't believe in the technology of today, then ask him, what is it that he'll be convinced of tomorrow. :)

You can't! It's too hard to believe that the moon gets no sun - and therefore there "can't" be pictures of the moon in daylight. I mean why not?? Until they "land on the moon" during the day, I think it's up for discussion!

the human race is infected with conspiracy theorists and fools that reject reality for lack of entertainment value. Such people are unfortuantely too numerous to be restricted to padded areas. You can give him proof with moon rocks and the momentom on the flag.

If your friend can read, have him go through the SCIENTIFIC facts presented on this website that totally blow away all the "proofs" that the lunar landings were all hoaxes ----
