Finally... someone on this site that has some manners and shows common sense... and asks a GOOD question. Your answer is YES, that should be a HABIT... to think before we act and speak. That is a trait of all professional and successful adults. It is a common requirement in order to achieve peace, friendship and love in any relationship... be it a casual or intimate relationship.
It is respectful to think of others and to consider the CONSEQUENCES of your actions and words, (especially words as they can be the most painful to others) BEFORE you do or say them. That is what being an adult it all about. Taking responsibility for your words and actions, so that you don't hurt your fellow-man's feelings. That is kindness... and kindness is a very attractive quality in any person. When kindness and thoughtfulness is displayed in your words and actions... It draws people to you... like a moth to a flame.
Please, come back with another good question... it is great to have them... Thank you !

This is a very good question and I'm glad that you asked. The answer to that question is "yes". It's all depending upon how the person was raised or either the persons self-esteem. The reason I say that is because most people do hurtful things because of how they feel on the inside, so they might take that anger out on an individual verbally and some do it spitefully and others do it and they don't even realize it. The problem is that most people are so caught up into their selves, that they don't seem to care for others or what others have to think. It's very sad to have to be this way. It's up to an individual to make the decision to think about others before themselves. For me, it can be hard at times but if you learn that this world is not only for you then you have tooken the first step to realizing that you ought to be thinking about others and there should be more concern as to how you would like to be treated. Treat others as you would like to be treated.

We sometimes don't think about the consequences of our actions because it's human nature that when you want something so bad, you don't really think about it, you just act on your desires. Nobody is perfect and we all make mistakes. The important thing to do is learn from our mistakes and not repeat it. Everybody in life has to go through trials and tribulations.

No, becuase our view of the world is based on what we see with our own eyes. when we speak, we speak from our own experiences, whether it be something we learned, or something we went through, but we had to actually have the personal experience of knowing what we are talking about. Hence, I don't think it is possible to stop thinking about ourselves and think about others before we act or speak.

Sure we can. And some people do. But I think the people who don't can't figure out a reason to do it. They rarely think cause and effect. It's a learned behavior and I don't think a lot of parents teach it now days.

You are right. I have to admit, I've done that myself on plenty of occasions. I try very hard not to now but I'm older and I truly don't like to hurt people intentionally. I do know people who do it on purpose though JUST to hurt others. This I can't understand at all.

I really hope that some of us could. There is so many people who always hurt others feelings really deeply because they don't think before they talk or act. I totally agree with you.

I believe we can... but it requires focus and genuinely caring about others to try and break habits that are ingrained in us by society and self-preservation instincts.
We tend to forget we are animals with self preservation instincts - survival of the fittest - but hopefully we work on personal enlightment and try to think of others first.
