Would their talent/songwring/look be enough to give them a chance. Considering there are many successful artists today who have made their mark by essentially imitating them.

It's really impossibly to say, because music wouldn't be what it is today without the Beatles. So they'd be up and coming in a totally different musical landscape. I think if you were to look at it like, would a band that looks and sounds exactly like the Beatles get signed today, the answer would probably be no because music has evolved so much beyond the kind of pop-rock they were making. Besides, record companies today seem to have a problem with putting out music that actually means anything.

But they weren't signed by a major record label in the first place. They were on a British label and Capital records bought the rights and put together albums that were different from the British versions - usually with three or so songs missing.

Also, the Beatles didn't write all their songs. There were quite a bit of covers, including some Motown - You Really Got A Hold On Me and Please Mr. Postman. They also covered the Isley Brothers Twist And Shout and Chuck Berry's Rock & Roll Music and Roll Over Beethoven.
The Beatles took a form of Popular Black music and made it available to the white working class. The Beatles influences were R&R and R&B; they later evolved to be some of the best pop/rock songwriters and performers the world has known.

So, today, who knows what kind of music they would do. And if they weren't around back then, who would of championed the mix of R&R and R&B that would influence the Rolling Stones; Black Sabbath; and Led Zeppelin.

It's all about the Blues!!!

I think in todays day and age the beatles would not be recongized for their song writing abilities and i'm not even sure if they would become that famous. It seems like today, unlike 40 years ago, people were looking for something new and different in a sence. And as you said there are so many artists that already can copy what the beatles did well enough i don't know if they would get a big record deal.

You have to imagine it in a relevant context. Imagine that there is a band with the same amount of talent. Would such a band be signed today. It is hard to say, it's all about business. I am sure that there are many bands with more talent out there than the Beatles that are not getting signed as we speak.

The early Beatles could have a shot, with their catchy pop hooks.

The Sgt. Pepper Beatles would never get major label attention. Too experimental, and their songs were over four mintues in length, which is considered the kiss of death by non-classic rock stations.

Their talent and songwriting would be enough to give them a chance. Their melody is sheer genius. What they'd have working AGAINST them today in the pop music scene is that their lyrics focus mainly on love while a lot of today's music focuses on sex or general angst.

I don't think so. The companies today are all about image.

Don't get me wrong, I love the beatles, I just don't think the labels would.

they'd be on an idie label. and after causing quite a stir in the alternative genre, they would gain more popularity and a major label would want to sign them but they would end up creating their own record label.

they might gain popularity as one of the best Beatles cover bands ever -- deep--- but then again - - the original management of the beatles forced them into their clean cut appearance to fit the mainstream of their time - who knows what they would be if allowed the freedom of today's mainstream

No.They aren't talking in ebonics or rapping and their white they wouldn't have a chance.Although they may have a better chance as a christian band since they made the statement about being bigger than Jesus Christ Himself.
