Why do small chidren feel that they will be happy when they will be older and can't wait for when they will be adults and every adult knows that the chance to be happy is gone along with childhoodand all they wish for is to return to that stage of their lives? Are we born to understand but never be able to reach happiness?

My husband of 6 years went out of the country for a week. He had no access to a phone for the whole time. By the end of the week I thought I was going to die. Just the thought of being without him made me physically sick. Ever since then, I look at our relationship in a whole new way.

Children only see the good in what they don't have. The never being told to do something etc. . Not that you have 10 deadlines by noon and time for 6. All you can do is do what you can and try to be happy.

human nature. thats what it all boils down to. People dont usually realize what they have until its gone,,,its hard to appreciate something that you are unaware you have.

people in general (not just kids) think that life will get better and then they will be happy...call it hopes and dreams or whatever you want...but they want a better life than what they have now. I think the key is to helping them discover their life is good now and they should just live for the moment and appreciate everything they have.

happiness may never be reached because people simply want to much. Wanting leads to suffering. It takes a noble spirit to not want anything. Only then happiness and nirvana is achieved

We can appreciate it but only to a certain extent. The real way of knowing how special something is, is when you experience the absence of it, right? Only then can we honestly say life would be empty/lonely/sad without it.

It depends on your definition of happiness. If physical goals are what you seek, there is a seemless end to attaining happiness. Happiness is usually found in its simplistic forms, just as we see things in children. box, hide, fun.

We never appreciate anything until we loose it.

Everything in life is a comparison, until we have lost something we have nothing to compare it to.
