youd think the trophy would have a guy playing that sport so whats with the cup

This is a tradition that dates back to the medieval ages where often times a jewel laden chalice was part of the bounty that a contestant would win. The Stanley Cup is no different. As is typical in most other sports, a champagne, beer or some other beverage was shared by the winning team. Therefore a cup is placed on top of the trophy, and the victors partake of The spoils.

In the NHL it's called the Stanley Cup... It's been around for a hundred years.

the soccer world cup trophy is far from a cup. its people holding up a ball. obviously u know nothin about this so why ask

and the players put their babies inside of it for publicity pictures
