The same reason that those little African teams and Iran don't make the Olympic hockey field. Soccer is not the national sports passion of Canada like it is in these other countries. Soccer is a sport that took root in these countries long ago and is also inexpensive to play. All the poor children in these places need is a ball and some other kids and they can play. You see the kids playing in the streets with makeshift goals. Soccer is also about the only entertainment that these kids get. They can't afford bikes, Playstation 2's, or even tv's.

football frequently ameliorations. having a seem again on the heritage of the international Cup, we see that once very reliable communities lose unexpectely and once susceptible communities win by surprise. as an celebration, Uruguay replaced into an quite reliable usa/ crew in the mid 1900's and at the same time as gained 2 international Cups yet the position are they now - they have not qualified for a international Cup in years! yet another celebration is France. France never gained a international Cup in the previous 'ninety 8 and earlier to that they were seen an quite inferior and susceptible crew yet seem what got here about - they gained in 'ninety 8 and that's amazingly conceivable that they are going to win in '06! As for African communities, i do not doubt that they are going to carry the Trophy ultimately. African gamers are very wise, proficient, and powerful so it really is going to easily be a remember of time and proper teamwork and corporation in the previous an African usa will win the international Cup. I, as a white ecu guy, believe that an African usa will win the Trophy in the previous the right of this century.

In those poor countries, that's the only sport they do. It's relatively cheap compared to other sports. All you need is some flat ground and a ball. Can you imagine Ghana with an ice hockey team? Get real!

The way CONCACAF (Confederation of North, Central American and Caribbean Association Football) is set up you have some major soccer powerhouses like Mexico, trinidad, Jamaica, etc. Unless you get enough points by winnig against them you will never get out to a world cup. Also places like Mexico, and as much as I hate to admit it, the US have much stronger players and game than Canada...how do you get to carnegie hall? practice practice practice...

its too cold to practice in Canada year round while in Africa and Iran they can practice all year due to warm climate. On top of that there economy is not as developed so a majority of people do not have jobs and play soccer instead.

It all depends on skill. Those little countries are in a different preliminary group than Canada, and they are at the top of their group, so they make it on to FIFA. Canada doesn't make it past the preliminaries in its group, so it doesn't go. It's all about how good you are, not how big or how powerful a country.

More emphasis on soccer nationally means more people are interested, more people practice and get good, more people move to that country to play soccer, people play soccer at a younger age, etc.
