Because it's been 30 years, when are they going to take care of themselves. This is capitalism your work contributes to your success, there shouldn't be handouts. As much respect as I have for these brave Americans I along with the rest of the American public should be held accountable for their welfare.

The rule is the Veteran needs to ask for the benefits before he will receive it. My Father is a Vietnam Veteran, and VA has been great to us. However, there is always room for improvement.

If you know a veteran who is not receiving benefits, then you should get him to the nearest Veteran's Administration office.

Sad to say that's how our country takes care of it's own. We go to war to help other countries obtain their rights but when our men and women who fight in those wars are injured they are pretty much ignored and left to take care of themselves. What happens to them down the road? After the tsunami our country was right there before the water had subsided and that's a good thing, but what happened in our own country during Katrina? Help came a whole week later!!!! It's my country but often I don't understand or agree with it's priorities.

It's another part of the legacy of Vietnam. Yet, my father is getting compensation and benefits. You have to stick with it from what I saw. Each vet's situation is going to be different. I say, vets, stand up for your rights and be heard!

It cost a lot of money and the Government would rather spend it on foreign nations.
