I definately agree, they should send them to me, the poor

Celebrities and executives receive freebies from companies and people who hope to please their favorites with a token and inspire them to promote the product or their company, ideally for free. Some executives get free tickets and "toys" as a sign of gratitude for something that they alread have done for that person. It isn't a gift to save that person any money, it is rather a sneaky way to make celebrities "like" that person or company more. Kind of like that rich kid that nobody really liked until his father built a swimming pool in the yard. Poor people can't help businesses grow, due to their lack of influence on others. So, why bother helping them? Yes, it does stink.

Probably because they get photographed a lot, and a lot of people pay attention to what they do.
If they happen to be using/wearing a product while people are watching, that is free advertising for the company.

Wouldn't influence many if I wore a pair of Dior sunglasses, even if I did look great in them

Advertising... pure and simple.

When "people of stature" own, use, or wear a product, it's being advertised. Then the rest of us regular people think "Wow, if J-Lo's wearing it, I MUST have it!"

It's not celebrities' fault that they are given lots of things. It's probably OUR fault for proving that it's an effective way to market and sell stuff. :-)

Yeah, it doesn't seem right. But people just want to advertise their products, and they think that the celebrity wouldn't buy their product normally, so they just give it to them, and hope that the celebrity promotes the product in some way.

Simply in one word: exposure!

A celebrity wears an item of clothing or drives a certain car and it's seen throughout the world. It's the easiest and cheapest brand of promotion.

Promotion, exposure and getting your name out there. Some of the products they get, even us regular folks could afford it. I really hate those shows where they show celebrities' houses, cars and how much they spend and live.

That's a good question. It's probably because the salespeople think, "Celebrities are sooo perfect / They're not like NORMAL people." I hate that kind of thinking.

Because celebs are in the best position to endorse a product and therefore help the company sell more!

It is called FREE advertisement. The celebrities wear whatever, people like us see our favorites wearing these items and we will want to purchase those items.
