Hurricanes need certain conditions in order to form.
It takes three things in order to make a hurricane form
One of them is the water at the surface of ocean must be at a certain temperature. There is a certain time of the year that this is possible this what they call hurricane season. Generally after hurricane season the surface temperature of the ocean is not warm enough to help create a hurricane. So nothing really says hurricane season is over it just depends on temperature and earth's position from the sun.

Actually hurricanes are partially triggered by ocean temperatures that are high (80 degrees and above). In the atlantic when a tropical wave moves off of the coast of Africa and it encounters such warm temperatures it forms large storms that begin spinning when the top of the storm reaches close to the tropic of cancer(?) (the northern tropical latitude). The wave is traveling on wind that go from east to west and at the higher latitude winds traveling from west to east begin to spin the storm into a depression, which accelerates as barometric pressure drops and develops into a hurricane. However it cannot do so without high oceanic temperatures. If it travels too far north, where the ocean is cooler, it fizzles out and dies.

It's called hurricane season because hurricanes start forming. Hurricanes don't start forming because it's hurricane season.

They look at their Calenders and say"guys and girls wake up it's time to go to work"...lol just kidding something to do with seasons and water temp. and other Scientific things I don't understand.
