Mankind's arrogance is probably a direct result of evolution.
(OK, you intelligent designers, give me a second to explain...)
The human brain has supposedly evolved over time, since when creatures first came on land, and fought over it. The "territoriality" of the these creatures determined which ones survived and which ones died, and which evolutionary branch survived or died out as well. The "limbic" root of the human brain, the reptilian brain with its territoriality, is probably the root of most of mankind's arrogance. Of course, mankind still has the ability to choose to rise above this genetic limitation - but often does not.

The Bible says we are the supreme beings and everything that is on this earth was put here for us...that is the Old Testament though.
I'd say it's natural for humans to overcompensate for their inadequacies. So instead of being humble, content, and embracing our humility, we instead see those as weaknesses and must do the opposite.
We are arrogant because we are afraid of what we really are, not because it is bad, but because society sees it as weak.

Human aren't arrogant, because its not the human being as such, its the person who is, people feel the need to be arrogant, and spiteful, god didn't create people he created humans, "satans "hold on, or the devine test, or lesser God(Gnostic)make us people, people have races, genders, and things of that nature, but god says in heaven none of this will be as such, we will just be human, the arragant nature comes from things around us not whats within us. but the Human is perfect, and when we achieve are perfection, the people will have to stand in attention, for we wouldnt need them anymore

Because we can't see our future.
It's like we're riding a bike with no hands and a blindfold.
Whenever we hit a wall, we dust ourselves off and look to blame the bike manufacturer.
The fact we live to ride another day contributes to it.
