Automatic updates are patches that update your computer so hackers can't get in your computer as easy. It updates the security of your computer. I always do them.

I would not ignore the automatic updates. This is certainly a choice, and you should learn more about computers if you intend on keeping one online. The main thing you have been mis-informed with is the notion that you were told "this way i will not get bugs or virus." That is NOT true. In fact, the automatic updates are one of the ways that Microsoft updates its software to more secure features and bug fixes. If you are actually concerned about getting rid of bugs and viruses I would turn the automatic updates on, PLUS I would get a good virus scanner program (Trend Micro is what I would recommend).

Turning automatic updates off only ensures that your computer will not be updated by the company that built the OS, while in the mean-time all the real virus and adware programs will be getting on your computer without your approval or knowledge.

Here's the correct answer. Go ahead and run the wizard. It will offer you these choices: "Automatically download & install updates", "Download updates for me but let me choose when to install them", "Notify me but don't automatically dowload or install them", or "Turn off automatic updates".

I would pick the automatic option...these updates come from Microsoft and are generally all security updates for your computer so they are important. It will auto load them and you won't have to worry about messing with it yourself.

This will not expose you to any virus, etc. On the contrary, it will help prevent attacks on your computer.

At any rate, you'll have to pick one option or the wizard will keep popping up until you do. Hope this info helped.

The automatice update wizard is from microsoft and is there for you to use on pupose so that microsoft can fix bugs that allow viruses and hacks in to your system. Not running it can compromise your system. However if you do not like it coming on and notifying you you can turn it off by clicking on the start button and then going to your control panel. Then choosing security center. Finally selecting Automatic updates. There you can turn off automatic updates, or choose to have it update without notifying you. I hope this helps.

Automatic Updates keeps Windows updated with the latest security patches, drivers, service packs, and utilities. I would recommend installing it and letting it update your computer. Anyone who says otherwise is probably an idiot.

It's a Windows computer, right? (Not a Mac?)
You should update - it will help protect your computer.
(You were told WRONG!)

Whether you want to have it automatic or not is up to you, but if you don't know what you are doing, it's best to leave it on auto.

It's best not to. You will want to see what is updating and choose whether or not you want to update that particular application.
