Go the New Egg. It's a website, and I got a really good laptop for around $900.

i usually check prices at
pcmall.com
ecost.com
tigerdirect.com
and then cross-reference back to pricewatch.com to see what the lowest prices are.
that's if you're looking for a new or refurbished one. if you want to gamble on a used laptop, ebay.com is the best place to go.

I have the best luck at Dell.
Costco sells Dell laptops now too.
