I believe in God. I have a 165 IQ and I know that evloution is one of the world greatest theories.

Evolution has been able to predict many things, and it is used in science for the production of new drugs as well as many other areas of biology studies.

It is a pretty lame christian that has to reject evolution to believe in God. God is, God created the universe. I don't have to know every detail of how he did it to believe in him. Anyone that has some understanding of God or is guided by the holy spirit can read genesis and understand that it explains that he is the creator. It was not meant as an instruction manual of how he did it.

Science explains the physical world around us. There are many theories that explain our universe. Many are replaced and other theories are revised to reflect later knowledge. It doesn't mean they were not good theories. The test of whether a theory is good is does it advance our understanding of the the world around us.

It is in that aspect the theory of evolution is outstanding. It has expanded our knowledge of the biological world tremendously. It stands as one of the great pillars of science equal to einstein's theory of relativity or pascal's calculus.

Evolution is as simple as a living being adapting and then changing to fit its environment. Right now, humanity is going through both social and physical evolution. Think about this. 1 million years ago, did we have the internet? Did we have computers that could play games like Farcry or Final Fantasy? No. There were no cars, there were no planes. Humanity had to evolve in order to create these miracles of the modern age.

Physically, we are all much taller than people in say Roman times or in the middle ages. We are also smarter. When was the last time you saw a samurai using a laser to cut out a melanoma?

In a few decades, we are all going to look very similar. Have you noticed that the number of interracial couples and children have more than tripled? This means that we have a much more diverse gene pool, which is going to lead to some very interesting results.

How can you be smart and believe in evolution? Only smart people believe in evolution!

this is something I shouldn't even get into but I just can't help myself. First, you are going to believe what you believe and that's just the way it is. I know what I believe because I would much rather come from a created man and woman than think my reptile tail fell off as I climbed from the mirk and the ape fur grew and now I'm just an ape who's gene pool didn't quite give me the hair it did grandpa. Second, science now is increasingly supporting biblical standpoints. Did you know that according to the bible there was a time when the world and time as we know it stood still? Scary part for science is that Stanford scientists and others from around the world have now concluded that there is a spance of time missing and they have pinpointed it to the second. Guess what, it is the same amount of time the bible called for. Moreover, a study of some bones a while back showed them to be 2 million years old but then further examination showed them to be only hundreds of years old. The tests are only good as the equipment and the people reading it. I do believe we evolve to a point but believing in a creator is the only thing that makes sense. If we came from the big bang, what caused the bang? What created the particles that turned into a life form prior to that. If you believe in evolution you have to believe something came from nothing since it couldn't have been created by a superior being. If you don't believe in God how can you believe in forever? The least little thing that microscopically transformed and evolved over and over and over had to come from somewhere didn't it? Somewhere in outer space it had to start. Oh yeah, where did outer space come from? Lastly, you might be right. I don't believe you are but nothing is 100 percent positive is it? What if my 5% chance of being right is actually right and there is a God who loves you and there is a Hell to shun? Wouldn't it be worth that small chance however small you think it is to be going to the glories of Heaven someday than the torture of Hell? Just a thought. Whatever your decision, good luck and I wish all of you the very best.........

This question was not asked well, so let me first point out that belief and fact are quite different. Though you may firmly believe what you do, the fact is that many people are the same way, with there beliefs. So, lets understand, that Fact is known and has proof, regardless of who you are. While belief is simply your view and the amount of trust you want to put in it.

Now, for the answer. The theory of evolution is a very sound theory with more proof behind it than any religious beliefs. So anyone smart would, in this case, go with it. What some fail to realize is you can be smart and spiritual too, you can have faith, but apply some logic to it.

So consider the phrase "The lord works in mysterious way's" and understand that anyone who truly believes in the lord, will know that they cannot even begin to comprehend him. That can apply to his plan's, action's, and even the history surrounding him. With this in mind, consider the possibility that evolution could be his will and way, or "his plan". Could this make it possible that science and religion can help to explain each other?

That's up to your belief's, but the point is that fact and faith are quite different, and only one has proof.

There are very intelligent people on both sides of this debate. The problems come up when people take things out of context and use that to "prove" their own point. Evolution is a theory because it has been tested and has held up to scientific scrutiny so many times that it is considered fact. Creationism can't be tested and so it is not a theory but instead is a belief. I disagree with the argument that because there are missing "links" that evolution is dismissible. If a jig-saw puzzle were missing a few pieces would you deny the picture it was making?

As an aside, religious beliefs are fine so long as they do not dictate public life. It's a slippery slope and the results can be seen in other countries where religious rulers are in place. This is why we are supposed to have a separation of church and state.

Okay, first off....to agree with everyone else, this has nothing to do with whether or not someone is smart. Secondly, there is nothing within creationism that disproves evolution. What is funny to me is that people automatically assume that when you talk about evolution, you are talking about people coming from apes. HOWEVER, the idea and theory of evolution is that everything started at one point and has evolved somehow to where it is today and will keep evolving. We, as human beings, have had to evolve over to time to adjust to our habitat, along with all creatures of the earth. While I am a Christian, and I believe that God created the earth, I do not think that everything was created in the beginning as it appears today. So, if you were not so close-minded, you could understand this concept and not talk down to everyone else by saying that they are dumb for believing the theory of evolution.

Evolution is real but here me out. I do not or have I ever believed all the amazing living things around me came from a single cell. No way that just cant be the case. There had to be some sort of a creator. But evolution is a proven thing. We have had to evolve due to the higher gas prices and we will soon have to evolve dramatically if we dont start trying to reverse global warming. Animals on the other hand have too many examples to start listing. Now if you are asking creation vs evolution then its faith vs science. Its not a smart vs unintelligent thing. Either you believe or you dont and thats your personal decision.

The real issue is if people were smarter they would take the initiative to research and discover their own answers. Many take the culture and beliefs passed on to them from their families without ever questioning or using their own brain to figure out what they believe.

Religion is the major cause of murder and persection throughout history and in to this world today... why, because someone thinks they are right in what they believe and must squash everyone else. Let's stop the bloodshed and viciousness amongst each other and if there is a spiritual force out there that is evil enough to send us all to "hell" for not believing in them then so be it.

But why be divisive and cruel with the precious time we have on Earth? Doesn't matter if it was creationism or evolution that got us here - we are here - what we do NOW is what is important.

Stop hatred, ignorance and cruelty. Be joyful in being alive.

Evolution is a known theory that has a backing in science. Creationism, while it has fundamentals in the Bible and is quite plausible, requires faith for one to believe it as true. What people dont realize is that evolution and creationism can be one and the same, as evolution still requires the big bang. One could argue that God was the creator of the big bang and thus everything evolved from Him. Just ebcause the Bible says the world was created in 7 days, it does not necesarily mean days in the same way we define them today. It could mean categories of time which could have been across millions of years.
To further pick apart fundamentalist's ideas, who is to say Christianity is correct in the first place? There are thousands of religions out there and it is a bit vain to assume Christianity is the "true" one.
While I am a Christian, I am open-minded and think logically about these things. Those that believe the Bible as word for word fact are missing the true intention of the Bible in the first place- a starting point for one's faith but not a set of absolute truths.

You should read the book by Charles Darwin, who was a devout Christian btw, Origin of Species. In it, he discusses the evidence of evolution. He did not think there was an either/or situtation and he believed in God and the Bible. Just not as literal as some people do.

In Darwin's Ghost, they give current examples that are widely believed by everyone (even those who support creationism) but most do not realize the examples as evolution.

One example is antibiotic-resistant germs. Another is the AIDs virus, of which there are two different versions. One kills fast and the other slowly. Both evolved to their hosts.

And lastly - ever hear of the "Bird Flu" and all of the hoopla surrounding it? Well, people are afraid it will EVOLVE to be able to transfer from human to human. Why is everyone afraid of this? The 1918 Flu Pandemic was a different strain of the same type of virus.

How can you not believe in evolution?

Where did the dinosaurs come from?

The bible is a collection of stories with meanings to them. Quite a few of the stories are actually based on even earlier religions.

Your beliefs are your own though. A long time ago people believed the earth was flat and if you went to far you would fall off the edge.
