Ok, so basically this is an issue that no one will ever be able to answer. Seeing as how this "holy" war has been occurring for the last few decades or so, I think it all comes down to who was there first. Think about it. If I stormed into your house tonight and demanded that everyone get out - what would you do? If you saw your wife and daughter raped and mutilated - what would you do? If you son was walking home from school, throws a rock at a tank and is shot dead - what would you do? This is what happens EVERY single time. Naturally, the Palestinian people must retaliate. And then they get blamed. So, what does it come down to? Territory. Man is territorial by nature and is greedy - the more the better. Hence, the never ending Isreal-Palestine war.

Israel used force to form the current state. They have stolen the land and forced their occupation on to the people living their. They would just love to have peace but this would mean the Arabs and the Palestinians accepting what Israel has done. Israel has had great support from Western Europe and the USA because of the guilt felt over the second world war.
The Israelis believe they have the right to be there and have fought four (or more) wars to ensure their survival. This belief and the fact that they won the wars does not make it right.
The Israelis have three options:
1. The most likely option is that they will continue to fight to retain what they have won by force. This strategy will not work. We will have violence in the middle east for as long as the state of Israel exists.
2. They can accept they are wrong and try to negotiate a peaceful withdrawal. This option will only come into play if the Palestinians begin to win the military conflict or the political conflict. This is an unlikely solution in the foreseeable future. There is a scenario that the middle east will use its oil power to force a solution suitable to the Palestinians.
3. The final option is for both groups to negotiate a new in dependant secular state which will accommodate all parties. This seems the sensible solution based on a pragmatic approach and recent history.
No one will win this war but everyone could win with a political solution.

Both sides will fight forever and both are to blame the reason is that there original arguments have long been forgotten and it is now an endless cycle of revenge. The only way that Israelis and Palestinians can ever even contemplate resolving their conflict is if both sides say "Okay lets forget everything that has happened and start again from today.". I don't think this likely and I suppose, sadly, that part of the world will never be peaceful until there is no-one left to fight each other. Israel seems far worse than Palestine for two reasons: 1) They have all the money and power (a tank is a great weapon against a stick) and 2) They are backed up by all the richest and most powerful countries. Both sides are to blame but I suppose Palestine has a far better argument to Begin with. Hope I have offered some interesting views to add to your arguments.

Is this a serious question? There are no Palestinians. They are Jordenians that did the same terrorist crap in Jorden and the king there kicked them out. They then migrated to the West Bank and then started doing the same thing to Israel. The reason they are "imprisoned" in the territories is that no Arab nation wants to take them because they know they will do the same thing in their countries, so they are stuck due to mostly their own errors. Sure Israel does not always do the best thing, but what can they do. The Palestinians have had many chances to have peace, but they turn it down everytime, because they demand more land , that does not belong to them and in the end they just want to whip Israel and the Jews off the face of the earth.
Do you not understand truth?

You need to do your homework and study history. 1st Israel existed before there was ever a "Palestine". And it was Jewish. Second, someone above correctly mentioned that the Arabs in the West Bank and Gaza are there mostly becacuse Jordan and Egypt would not take them (so much for Muslim brotherhood!). I do not dispute that the region is the traditional and ancestral homeland of lots of different people (Jews and Arabs included). But Israel does not go out killing innocent Arab civilians intentionally. Yes, there are extremist Jewish nuts who have committed acts of terror, but not the Iraeli government. Israel has been invaded by every Arab neighbor it has. Why wouldn't they want an occupied zone between themselves and these hostile neighbors? The Israelis have been seeking a 2-state solution where Jews and "Palestinians" co-exist, but it has been the "Palestinians" who have refused the overatures. Israel has since made peace with Egypt and Jordan and has been an honerable partner with both since, not once violating any agreements or posing any threat to either. The "Palestinians" need to reign in the extremists and decide when they have had enough misery and elect a government that is not headed by a murdering terrorist group. When they take responsibility for their own future and are ready to make peace and co-exist with Israel, Israel will welcome them just as they have Egypt and Jordan.

Israel must do what it must to protect its People. It has been attacked by every single one of its neighbors, more than once, and has beaten them back at every turn. It is subjected to Palestinian terrorist attacks on a weekly and daily basis. So, because of the terror created by the Palestinians, Israel strikes back, and sometimes innocents get hit along with the guilty. It is the way of War. As long as Palestinians continue to target Israeli civilians, Palestinian civilians will likely continue to be the collateral damage of Israeli responses against those terrorists.

I am of Arabic Descent, although not Palestinian, and if I had the answer to that than there would be Peace in the Middle East.
I don't know if this is an answer or not. However according to the bible all the Arab peoples are Decendants of Ishmael. The son of Abraham by his Handmaiden Hagar. He is mentioned in the Qur'an as a propet of Islam. Well he would have to be the head of Islam.
What frightens me the most about Israeli's "handling" of the Palestinians is the closeness it is to the Holocaust. What is the difference between nazi Germany killing Jewish Men Women and Children and Israeli Killing Palenstinian Men Women and Children With bombs, Morters, and Guns. Please enlighten me if you can.

It is like the occupation of Iraq by nations that are not nor wanted!
Israel is an occupier as thought by those who wage war on Israel! The ignorance of the two is causing such anger that it spills over to other nations due to religious belief's. The audacity of them to think they have rights to bomb a beach and kill innocent lives shows the world what is really going on.The world be a better place if the Christians stay at home and prey to whom they wish and stop causing problems just because they found Christ! Afghanistan, Christians told no bibles aloud and what do they do; they bring bibles to a country that forbids it and is punishable by their laws! Then guess who shows up! To ask yourself "why" is a question only they can answer, as to why they cause problems just because they believe in an object that will never be seen nor heard from. To respect each others religious belief's would be the right thing to do, unfortunately that's a far gone answer never to be tried!

What Isreal is doing is not terror but more of what could be called unclean military actions. Palestinians bombers will blow up innocent civilians on the streets of Isreal. The situation that the Palestinians are under does not warrant this. Isreal gives more rights to Aliens living in their country than any other country in the middle east. When Isreal retaliates they do not do the same thing that the Palestinains do. They go after the people who were behind the bombing. When they do so they will have collateral damage. But this happens with most Military actions. Isreal may have taken the Palestinian peoples land ( through legal land transactions) but what they are doing is not comparable to what the Palestinains are doing to many innocent lives.

"Palestinians" is the most successful hoax of our time.
The continued oppression of these stateless Arabs is a tool in the wider Arab effort to destroy Jewish independence.
Or, in their own words:
"The Palestinian people does not exist. The creation of a Palestinian state is only a means for continuing our struggle against the state of Israel for our Arab unity. In reality today there is no difference between Jordanians, Palestinians, Syrians and Lebanese. Only for political and tactical reasons do we speak today about the existence of a Palestinian people, since Arab national interests demand that we posit the existence of a distinct "Palestinian people" to oppose Zionism.
For tactical reasons, Jordan, which is a sovereign state with defined borders, cannot raise claims to Haifa and Jaffa, while as a Palestinian, I can undoubtedly demand Haifa, Jaffa, Beer-Sheva and Jerusalem. However, the moment we reclaim our right to all of Palestine, we will not wait even a minute to unite Palestine and Jordan."
-PLO executive committee member Zahir Muhsein, 1977
