We've all heard the classic answers like, "The sky." and "The roof." Get creative. A friend of mine would respond "Up is not a relative direction in space, thus it is objectional to the person or object using the said statement." See what you can come up with.

Right now, it's the irritating dandruff on my scalp, then the poor dry but beautiful hair, then some empty space, then the roof, then the AC ducts, then the concrete, then the tiles in the cafeteria, then the dust off people's shoes, then the roof again, then some cool breeze, then the clouds, then some empty but less-oxygen space, then the space out there...then i don't know, never been further than this...phew...!!

Up is the direction you take to climb out of bed. Up is the direction you take to come out of a hole. Up is the direction you take when you have reached bottom and you have no where else to go. Up is where you go when you jump off the ground. In space there is no point of reference to go up-down-or sideways.

Don't ask your friend, he's too abstract.

Go watch sesame street more often instead.
