Maybe you have lotion or hand cream on your hands that the fish can taste on the pellets? Try washing your hands before you feed it.

Bettas don't need that much food. 3-4 pellets a day is good. It usually takes the fish a few days to acclimate before they start eating. When he's hungry he'll start eating. Don't feed too much, or the water will get really dirty. You can use an old turkey baster to suck the un-eaten food from the bottom of the tank. Hikari betta bio-gold or HBH betta bites are the two best betta foods on the market.

I believe fish know who feeds them cuz when I approach the tank they all come to where I am but anyone else they ignore. You dont say how often or how much you feed them but dont feed them for a couple of days and then feed them one pellet at a time-if it eats it, offer another until he stops but if he doesnt eat it then stop till the next day. I would not suggest goldfish food but betta food or shrimp pellets preferrably.

#1 - it's probably not a betta fish and #2 - fish are ridiculous pets that do nothing but take up space and $ so flush it...

My bettas like flake food that floats around awhile and gives them a chance to get to it before it falls to the bottom.

All betas have attitudes. But I found this out after I bread my betas, the male jump completely out of the tank, pissed me off, I guess after they are finished mating in China, which they do in rice fields, they jump from one rice hole to another to mate with another beta, he was a horny bastard jumped out of the bowl landed on my floor and died

Your beta will eventually eat the food you give it if it gets hungry enough. Quit having your boyfriend feed it. You have to train it to eat when you feed it.
