when he is in his shell his arms cover his head. he is kind of a sand-rock color and his feet look like some kind of alagetor or lizard

Where did you find the turtle? If he was found on the beach, he may be a baby sea turtle. The best thing to do is return him to whereever you found him. Sea turtles are indeed an endangered species.

Take it to a local vet. Or you could look up endangered turtles on the internet. I don't think it is endangered though, it probably just looks like it.

I think that based on this question the turtle is definately in danger. Take it to a pet store or your local animal shelter or ask your neighbors if they lost a pet.

If you haven't already tried to look it up somewhere, do that. Then find the phone number for either your state's or the national wildlife service and call and ask them to help you identify it.

take it to a zoo or vet or a animal reservation they will know what kind of turtle it is.

take him straight to the vet or a reptile house/emporium. Turtles can carry diseases. Please get him checked out and until then don't touch him without wearing gloves. And definitly don't let kids around the turtle. PLease get him checked out, he could be sick, or have semonila

if you found it, its not endangered, it probably came out of a near by pond or lake. trust me you didnt make some marvelous discovery
