Quickest way? Take some lessons from a regular guitar teacher.
Most fun way? Get with a group of guitar players and just jam
Cheapest way? Purchase an instruction book and work your way through it.
Guitar is really a fun instrument -- C,F and G are the folksingers friends. You'll be amazed at how many songs you can play with just these three chords.
happy strumming!

the quickest way is to get a private teacher. he will use his time during the lessons only for you,and you can ask him if you dont get something. i learned to play guitar in about 9 months with my private teacher, practicing with him an hour every week, but i guess that if you studied more, you would learn faster.

By picking it up and trying to play a tune or song you love. Teach yourself tablature if you can't read music.
