Yes, I do. The battle over gay marriage is a disagreement between two groups of churches. The government should be involved in establishing NEITHER. This is America, freedom of religon is important. The same group of churches, in essence, that opposed slavery prior to the Civil War now support Gay Marriage, the same group of churches that supported slavery prior to the civil war now oppose gay marriage. Both groups have gotten some new allies from among the younger faith groups -- but that doesn't change the dynamic.

America must never have an established faith. The government should recognize the marriages made by all churches. Those churches opposed (like most of the Baptists,) should never be pushed to perform gay marriages. Those churches that support gay marriage (like the United Church of Christ and the Unitarians) should never be stopped. The government should honor all of the marriages, and stay out of religion. There are over 1400 denominations of Christians alone in this country -- it is vital that the governement not get involved in the stew of religious politics on either side.

This might be my opion
or stating a citzens right
right to live thier life how they want it
and marry who they choose.
who is the government to step in
and tell someone who they should marry. They need to be protecting our country and stop worrying about whos marrying who.
People have differences in looking for a spouse
why is it wrong when it comes to the sex of the person. If people are allowed to marry outside of race religion or watever why should gender be the only limitation?, its not fair. Thats fine if your not gay or dont believe in it, but there are people who do so everyones entitled to thier own opions but noone asked anyone to be gay so i dont see why people who dont believe that it is right are gettin all defensive. i get defensive and irritated because i cant believe that people are trying to stop others from a simple thing like being with a person that they choose. I say marrage is about LOVE nothing else, so let people marry who ever they want.

Of course I believe in gay marriage because
#1. Im a lesbian.
#2 Im intelligent
#3. I don't need to devlue anyone elses relationship to feel better about my own.
#4 the list goes on and on and on....

I don;t know though if I would agree that marriage is a religous right of everyone. But it is a civil and human right that everyone deserves. I don't think a church should be forced to perform gay marriages if it is against it policies and rules.

But I'll say it again MARRIAGE IS NOT A RELIGOUS INSTITUTION!!! Don;t fool yourself. Atheists can get married in a court without ever hearing the word "God". Religous folks cannot get married in a church without the legal documents. Felons can get married in prison etc etc. Sin, and anything of that nature play NO part in it.

You may even think that homosexuality is "nasty". That's fine. I think that people with foot fetishes are nasty, but they can still marry.... that's called a personal opinion. Everybody has one. You still cannot deny the fact that it is not for you to judge what is immoral or wrong. And since marriage is not a religous institution, take religon out of it...now what is the basis for denial.

Marriage is for procreation...BS, if it was there would be specific regulations on how many children and when a couple would have them for every person applying for a marriage license. There would also be mandatory fertility testing. But theres not, so let's remove that "reason".

Mentally healthy children? Go find any psychological study, that is not done on gays already in counseling or a mental instituion, and tell me what you will find? Nothing, there has been no proven adverse affect on children. Sure you can google it and find plenty of people who wrote pages on biased studies and personal opinions, but I mean something in an actual educational journal, with a group of participants that actually represent society, or the gay portion of society.

What's left? Taking God and children out of the arguement, because neither belong there...you have no basis for your opinion, other than EWWWW. Very unbiased and stimulating arguement. Ill have to look into that.

BTW, to the MORON who said ppl are gay because of the influence of a homosexual pedophile....get a grip and read a book. Pedophiles are usually heterosexual males, but you don;t hear me telling everyone that men are ruining society, even tho they are to blame for a large majority of sex crimes against...well, hell, against anyone. I am sure there are gay pedophiles, just as there are straight ones. And bisexual ones, and white ones, and black ones. Mental illness affects everyone.

Lastly, I have to ask you...what could gays POSSIBLY do to marriage that has not already been done? Seriously....

Step outside your comfort zone and do some research... talk to to gay people. Don't base your beliefs on what anyone tells you.

Most gays are not "made" that way by sexual predators. Most gay people I know are fantastic people who contribute to society with their tax dollars, community volunteerism and being good responsible citizens.

Most criminals, perverts, dead beat dads, murderers and so on are straight men.

Marriage is a sanctioned tax credit for conforming to government standards. If it were only spiritual it wouldn't be a law that was left to the government to enforce. Seperation of church and state - this country doesn't really understand what that means.

As for being good for men to be gay - well that only matters to you in the decision you need to make. Who cares if someone is gay if they are kind, loving, responsible person who makes a contribution to society in a positive way.

It's utter nonsense.
Most gays have become gay after being influenced by a gay pedophile in their teens. In this preverted self-proclaimed "culture"
a relationship is sth immature like an intercourse, not love, not responsibility, not caring... It's what the pedophile has imposed on the young teen that stays for the rest of his life and he comes to believe this is how he was born! I have gay friends and they all come from the same place...Pedophilia causes homosexuality and gay marriage is just another form of perversion like necrophilia or zoophilia.
Most "gays" know deep inside this is not what they were meant to be and just drown their pain in drugs, alcohol and cigs. They are constantly depressed, despite all that festivity they desperately try to project. Being gay is really pathetic and a huge blow to your dignity as a human being. The sooner you realize you were born normal, the better for you and those who truly love and care for you.

NO, NO and NO! No gay marriage. Marriage is between one man and one woman. Guys marrying guys is just wrong - it's unnatural. And there is no religious "right" for you to get married as I saw someone else answer. They're just in denial about the fact that they're a flaming homosexual. The worst thing about it is when homos want to adopt kids. What's wrong with you freaks?
