Today I was sitting with some of my friends and we were just shootin the ****, joking around and what not and one of my friends is like: "Marcus smells like curry everyday." I'm Pakistani, but I never eat curry or Pakistani food. I guess I'm kind of paranoid because I'm not sure if he's joking or not. I never eat any curry or any kind of spicy food, like garlic or onions. I shower daily, wear antiperspirant and wear clean clothes. What do you guys think? Was my friend being serious or was he just joking? I've always been paranoid about body odor so he kinda scared me. I'll probably end up asking him if he's serious.

Look in either way: if he is hanging around you and passing those remarks, then if he immediately stops, then its a possibility that he is joking. If the joke goes continuously every time, then it may be a hint - a rude remark in which they are trying to pass to you. Keep in mind though, that if he hypocritically makes those remarks about you then it may be for real as a hint, and that would be a cause of concern. However, as racist as it seems - if you have been taking good care of yourself and have been taking the proper hygiene, then there is nothing to worry about. Other people will be around you and will know that you don;t smell like curry, and you are not nasty in any way. Let your friends pass stupid remarks - it does not make them any better - and you don't have to be in their company. You just do what you have to do, and always stay clean, fresh, and smelling good - no need to go paranoid.

It sounds like your friend probably drew on a little inner racism to make a joke as a means of either getting in a cheap shot at you and /or making himself feel better. I'm sure you do not smell like curry however, it is a racial profile that is popular for insecure racist yahoos to encapsulate all middle easterners under much like "all asians are bad drivers" or "all irish are drunks" or "all african americans are on welfare". These simply are not true. I'm sure people who cook a lot with curry smell like curry much like smokers smell like an ashtray. They don't smell it because it is what they are used to and because the American diet isn't curry rich it often seems perculiar to someone not of the culture. You friend sounds shallow and rather insecure. I wouldn't pay it any attention because you just feed the fire. In fact your friend doesn't sound like much of a friend at all. If you are really worried about it, ask a close friend if you smell funky and I am sure they will tell you honestly. If your friend continues to taunt you with racial jokes I'd slowly distance yourself. Life is too short to waste on shallow minded ignorant f***-tards.

I think asking him yourself would be the best bet. You know what they say about assumptions. If he is your friend at all I'm sure it was all said as a joke and in fun, but if it makes you uncomfortable be it a joke or not, you must let him know or it will continue, in some form or another.

I am not a professional counselor so dont take this as a definitive, just a suggestion from someone who has at one point, okay several points, had to deal with similar instances!

this one is stupid, yet you will desire to assert... guess what you and coals in a hearth have in easy, or you could purely go out the jokes, and do the secret admirer element. in case you're at artwork, you will desire to placed it on her table/locker. or you will desire to slide into her locker in case you're in college, or placed it on her table or some thing in case you're over at her domicile. If no longer, then purely tell her. The worst element she would desire to do is say no, or unlike you back. existence sucks, guy. each so often it desires a sprint sugar.

I think he was making an ugly ethnic slur. A friend would not say such a thing. He has a very mean and nasty side to him.
