My wife is a nurse and all her friends are nurses. All I can say is, they all have job security like you wouldn't believe. If they quit one job today, they can pick from 10 jobs tomorrow. Huge shortage of nurses also means that you can better negotiate your wages and benefits. Good luck! :)

The desire to make money will not get you through the science classes, the clinicals where you are helping irrigate wounds and cleaning ostomy bags; the first thing is to want to serve and help others.

Before you decide about the RN, you need to decide between people and animals, and a great way to do that is to take a course as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA). It's rewarding and really gives you an idea of what is coming. If you know for sure you would rather work with animals, why not look into a Veterinarian's assistant or Vet Tech I? Good luck. Many famous people said, find what you love to do and the rest will follow.

Going into a field because of the money is not how to make a career decision.

I have worked in the medical field for many years and I love it. The field has made many changes over the years, some are good and some are very negative.

If you want to work with animals, then you should pursue a career in veterinary work. There are many options available if you look into it.

You have to like what you do, not just love the money. You made the comment you can travel after 6 months of training? Most reputable companies require 2 years of working as a RN.

Do some soul searching before you put your time and money into a career. Good Luck!

I think that being an RN would be a great job for you since they do get paid a lot of money. My sister wanted to go into nursing as well for pre-med and medicine and I believe that she can do it just like I believe that you can do it too. Nurses do get paid good money and I know that you would make a great nurse because most of my relatives are nurses that are on my mother's side and since it is your dream that you always wanted, I think that you should go for it.

My mother is a nurse and loves her job. I asked her this when I was in college and deciding on a major. She works in ICU at a hospital, has been there for 10 years, and is one of the highest paid RNs in the metro area. It is a very rewarding and demanding career. The biggest reward: touching peoples lives everyday. Hardest demand: when there's nothing left to help a patient. Good luck with your career.

Why are you restricting yourself to Vet Tech when you could become a full-fledged veterinarian? If you study hard and save your money you could go all the way! Veterinarians make a good living AND they work with animals day in and day out!
