i have checked to see if it is chafing but have found nothing, will replacing it sort the problem, and where can i get one?

Try lubricating it with graphite, if this does not help, then replace!Try an auto parts supply for both.

It may need to be lubricated. You should be able to find cable lube at the parts store.

The cable should be flexible. You can get one from the dealer or you could try on line.
