Your question in turn raises another question. That question is: what if all people on the internet could spell and use proper grammar? The answer: Nobody really knows. Perhaps the infrastructure of the internet would collapse plunging people into a dark era where lol, j/k, and 1337 would have no real meaning. It would be pandemonium. The people who relied on these modes of speech would die out, and people would once again realize that "was" is not plural and the correct word is "were".
