I am usually a sunny happy person. When I meet people walking or shopping, most do not smile, do not speak. Why?

There are many possible explanations: stress, natural reserve, preoccupation with personal matters, concentrating on the task at hand, etc. And then, some people just choose to be mean and unhappy, or at least it seems that way to me. Just don't take it personally or you might get to be like them!

maggie above is right... stress aside, why are there so many unhappy people in the world -- i think it's because they are not satisfied and content with what they have. they constantly want more -- how can you make a person who is never satisfied, happy?
media is to blame (one of the reasons) it gives an unrealistic perception to people -- like they make it seem like you can be happy if you're beautiful, or if you're rich. -- being beautiful or rich does not equal happiness.
