Yes, its possible. There are programs called "Keyloggers" which can work as background process, can save the keystrokes and can send them as email to the email address specified in the configuration files. Most Antivirus and Spyware busters are capable of detecting these kinds but its not possible always.
If you are using a latest operating system from Microsoft and an experienced user, then you can try checking the processes or programs running by invoking Task Manager (Press Ctrl-Alt-Del, then click on Task Manager).

Mmm, but some keyloggers can hide themselves pretty well. If you have cause to think you have this, it may pay to have your system checked by a pro, or backup you're main files and do a reinstall. If you've used a Sony music disk on your PC and agreed to the EULA that installs "enhanced Content" on your PC, you may be especially vulnerable, due to an easily exploited rootkit installed by Sony, which allows a hacker to compleatly hide malicious software.

It would be like a small chip inside your computer near the connection of your keyboard inside.. I've heard of these being put into laptops.

yes, if they have installed a keystroke logger, they would have had to send you a file which you opened in email. that allowed a script to run and install it, or they would have had to some over and install it.
there are also inline devices that can be installed to your keyboard and computer to log keystrokes. check your keyboard cord, see if its directly into the computer or into some other device first. it will be small.

Download and use a firewall and the info will not be sent out. The firewall will let you know which program is accessing this info, then you can delete it.
