First, let me get some ambiguous terms out of the way. First, there's micro-evolution. This is like breeding dogs to get the dog you want. Then, there's macro-evolution, which is breeding dogs to get a human after milllions of years. Okay.
Micro-evolution is, obviously, possible because the genes of the dogs change to let it's grandchild be a different kind of dog. However, there's a limit to how much genes can change. After a while, the dog will be really different from his ancestors (chihuahuas and great danes) but can never turn into a non-dog. I've never seen a dog give birth to a cat-dog. It's just not possible. Think of it this way. If you take the word "Cat" and change one letter at a time, you can come up with "hat," "mat," and "pat." Can you ever come up with "orange?" No, orange doesn't have three letters.
The only way for evolution to be possible is if a lizard mates with a squirrel to produce a bird. And I don't think it's possible for that to happen, do you? Sure, donkeys and horses can mate to produce mules, but they're related (like dogs and wolves.)
If you ever see an owl-kangaroo, I'll take this back. For more answers about evolution, go to www.drdino.com.

Imagine this. Take a deck of 52 playing cards. Shuffle up. Deal out five. What are the odds that those exact five cards are dealt?
If you answered 100 % then you're right. You just dealt those cards.
Yet your instincts tell you that the odds must be something like one in a million. Answer this paradox and you'll have taken your first step to understanding how the complexity of life exists despite the odds.
Evolution is a fact of life. There is overwhelming scientific evidence in support. However, evolution doesn't deal with the creation of life from nothingness. That's Abiogenesis.

How about this for evidence? Just the fact that you exist and are alive is evidence that evolution occurs. In fact, it is impossible for life to exist without evolution occuring, see Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium among many other theories. The question isn't whether or not there is scientific evidence to back it up, since there is not only a mountain of evidence but mountain ranges and a whole planet to boot; the question is whether or not people want to accept the evidence. If you were to take all religious bias out of the picture, it would be absolutely crystal-clear that evolution takes place. Unfortunately, religion and emotion usually overpower reason, logic, and common sense when it comes to most people, not to mention most people these days are quite weak in logic and reason anyway. Look at practically everything that's occuring now and has occured throughout history.

yes, evolution is quite possible and is happening right now. For this reason, we need a flu shot every year (the virus is constantly changing, adapting to whatever we can throw at it).
Also, read about how people have adapted to the malaria parasite and how that relates to sickle-cell anemia(http://sickle.bwh.harvard.edu/malaria_sickle.html). Only people living in malaria infested regions have high rates of the sickle-cell allele and other adaptations to combat malaria.
As far as the fossil record, check out the evolution of horses. They began as dog-sized, four-toed creatures, then became three-toed animals. Finally, one toe enlarged and became the hoof.
And don't believe what you hear when people say that flying animals cannot evolve because an animal can either fly or cannot fly. A perfect example of an intermediate animal is the "flying" squirrel, which actually glides.

It is not only possible, but if you understand how DNA functions, it is inevitable. The possibility of it existing out of nothingness is 100% as we are here. Evolution, on a molecular basis (DNA) is a change, deletion, or addition to the molecule. The term for this is a "mutation", most of which are deleterious (bad), but some are beneficial to the organism.

Life is still the bigest puzzle in science.Scientifically it is impossible to prove what constitutes life even though we have a science of biology. We study different life forms and have recently discovered some of the Mechanisms of Dna which was completly Unknown in Darwins Days.
We evolve from our mother's womb in exactly 270 days and that was the destiny set by our Creator of life. However ;Scientifically ,we cannot understand it, And those who try are just philosophicaly driving themselves into a dream land.

the chance of origin of life from a state of nothingness?? we can do that when we create a human life ourselves...cannot the universe be born from 'nothing'? most everything IS nothing if you read quantum physics - everything is mostly empty space.

It happens everyday.Just look at viruses that evolve and mutate to survuve vaccines.Scientists just found prehistoric organisms in a cave in Isreal. They also dicovered a skull that is a link between man and ape last year.

Well can't you see all of the animals that are living here on earth and how all of their prehistoric ancestors are, this is evolution.
