I used to chew my nails down until the bled and hurt. My mother put a stop to this by putting hot pepper liquid on my nails. Unless you like super spicy food - I guarantee this will break the habit.
Sometimes you forget - its a habit after all - and put your nails in your mouth. Once you get that burn - you'll stop!

When I was in my younger age I use to bite my nails as well but when I got braces my teeth had so much pressure that it hurt.
I doubt you had braces so I can suggest what my friend did.
1. Buy a dark coloring nail polish so when you bite your nails it taste horrible.
2. Instead of bitting your nails clip them with clippers.
I hope those idea's work.

girl i have the same problem i just put some sally Henson nail growth on in about two days your nails will grow about a half of inch i so sure that your will want to stop biting your nails and want to paint them everyday

i had the same problem and i just had to pay real close attention to when i was doing and eventaully i stopped. try keep your hand in fists when you're sitting down (not clenching them, but loosely), but if you pay attention to when you are biting them and stop yourself, eventually the habit goes away... it takes about two weeks... :) or you can buy the nail polishes that taste nasty and stop you from biting your nails... they are available at longs and walgreens

wonder did that person wash their hands after you touched what they touched? think about all the things you touched before you washed your hands to eat that ice cream or club sandwhich. That made me stop eating my nails. Well Iam a nurse so I think like that.

put something nasty or smelly and bad tasting on your nails, such as nail polish remover or vinegar. then when you start to bite them you stop because they taste bad and smell horrible. keep doing until you dont want to bite them.!!

they make special nail polish that tastes bad... look at the drugstore or local beauty store ;)

Paint them with STOP by Salley Hansen. It really works. Or you can bandage them or spray then with hairspray. Or, if all else fails, cut them off, or have someone slap you everytime you do it. Hey, if you're that desperate ...
