Convicted implies a crime such a statutory rape. Even if this was not the case, it is unethical for a teacher to have a relationship outside of the classroom with a student taking a class from that teacher. Age is also a huge factor. If the student in question was under 18, then that teacher will automatically lose his or her license, and will never be allowed to teach again because most school systems make all employees that deal with students go through a criminal background check. Sexual predators are highly likely to become repeat offenders, so I must say no. If a teacher is CONVICTED of having an improper relationship with a student then he or she should never set foot inside a classroom again. We must remember that those of us in the teaching profession are exactly that - professionals. We should know better.

No. It is too much of a risk to allow a convicted sex offender around children, even if that offender is a teacher. Teachers are trusted to provide children with an education, but above that, to be a person that a child can trust to provide help with personal problems as well. What sex offenders do breaks that trust, and that is why convicted sex offenders should never be able to teach again, if they were once teachers.

This is a complicated subject considering the day and age we currently live in with all of societies taboos, vs. many civilizations past and even today who think that a girl, should be, married by the age of say 15 or she would be ridiculed or cast from her family and or worse yet, her community. Remember the question does not reflect rape, pedifilia, so I can only assume this would be consential. I also realize this can occur at any age and of course may not be consential. That being said I don't see it unusual for a "student" to become enamored with their "mentor". This happens often, more often than parents even are willing to admit as they were children once too. So its only a protective reaction for parents to become concerned for the well being of their child. Though if we were living in the 1800's this would not be looked upon as such a terrible sin against God. After all, religion is what our gov'ts use to control the masses, and at present I don't recall anything in any religious book saying that age, or for that matter sex, is a definitive wrong doing.
All that put into context does not mean that I, in any way shape or form agree with pedifilia or rape, it does mean that if you want to know what your children are up to, including a healthy understanding of sex, when their hormones are raging at their fullest, we should at least understand these "encounters" for what they are. Afterall I'm sure many of us have stories from both the teacher and student perspective that don't translate into something regretable. So if taken, as any other situation, should be viewed on a case by case basis, not elevated to some horrific act against God. So my answer would be neither Yes or No until stories, situation and evidence is weighed.

Just because your convicted doesn't mean that your truly guilty. There's no problem with letting a teacher back in the school. To be honest its the students that should be convicted they are the ones hitting on the teachers. They need to control there hormones. Teachers are just trying to do their job while maintaining a good learning relationship with the students.

This is a very difficult question but in my opinion, no, they should not be allowed to teach again. A teacher is looked up to as a role model and leader. A leader who makes these types of decisions is not a good role model for our students so they should be denied the priveledge of teaching. I am involved in a theater group and recently, one of my fellow actors was convicted of childhood rape. He is forbidden to participate with the theater group from this point on. We all make choices, some of which have negative consequences. People must learn to deal with these consequences if they are going to make a negative choice in the first place.

I don't feel that they should be around children at all. I was watching something the other day & there was a teacher that was trying to get a job @ a private school as a teacher, HELLO what is the difference?? Someone that has what they call a relationship with a student should be put in jail no if's and's or but's about it!!

Absolutely not. I am a teacher and I believe, first of all, that any adult in an authoritative position over children or youth has the responsibility to make the better choice and youth under the age of sixteen years, regardless of their emotional, social or academic progress, are NOT capable of making that type of an adult decision. As a teacher, if you break that rule, guideline, whatever, you have crossed a line that every teacher I have EVER met finds reprehensible and their license should be revoked on a national level.

No ! and they probably would not want to, because if the slightest thing comes up a student can use that against them .
A teacher is suppose to be in charge of their feelings Adult-Child. they make me sick ,it is as though they take the job just to get near children for that reason.

absolutely not. teachers who do things like that give the rest of us a bad name! school is supposed to be a safe place where the kids can go to learn in a comfortable and warm environment; not a place to go to get molested or propositioned by their teachers. kids have enough pressure from their friends, and even more from their enemies. they don't need sexual or uncomfortable pressure from their teachers as well.
