There are many programs specifically designed to fund minority and woman owned businesses. Spend some time on the Small Business Administration site http://www.sba.gov to get started. Contact your local chamber of commerce. There is funding out there for people that are willing to invest in themselves and that have a great plan put together. It's out there but you have to search for it, it's not looking for you.

I would suggest that whatever funding sources you tried either one, questioned your ability to run a business or two, saw no financial incentive to fund a "nursing medical registry."

That actually should be your first step in solving your dilemma. Find out why you have been turned down in the past. Don't assume race was the "prevailing" factor. The answers, besides being a black female, may surprise you and even be easily fixed.

From the tone of your question, I doesn't sound like your passion or persistence is lacking. You need to look upon the struggle (believe me funding is a struggle for every small business out there) as a challenge and learning experience. That is how great leaders are made!!!

My only other suggestion is to at the very least contacting a SBA SCORE office in your area. They provide counciling on business startups and would go a long way to achieving your goals.

I work for a financial institution that has been granted a Reg B exception by the OCC. What this means to you: we are able to ask on a loan application questions regarding gender and ethnicity. We are the only financial institution that has been given this exception. Because of this we have separate, more lenient, credit policies towards women and minority owned businesses. I specialize in lending to business with credit needs under $500,000. If youd like to contact me, email me at george.burnett@uboc.com

Thanks

I have seen may Small Business Admin. programs geared towards supporting woman-owned businesses, and many state programs have quotas on contracting with woman and minority owned businesses.

First check out the counceling and support networks, as those people can look at what you are currently doing, and advise you on what you can do different to get the results you want.

And lastly, as long as you THINK your race and sex are holding you back, it WILL hold you back. If you BELIEVE it is an advantage, It WILL become an advantage.

Actually that's not right, there are many agencies out there that can help. For example:

http://www.famerenaissance.com/
http://www.operationhope.org/smdev/

Google: minority business grants
or something like that and you'll be suprised at what comes up.

Check with your local government as well.

you are not trying the right avenues...there are federal incentives for banks to offer loans to "minority" women (even though you are far from being a minority) Keep trying...And go to the NAACP web site they have links and representatives to help narrow your search.

Obviously, there are ways for you to be funded. Maybey you should stop playing the "black card" if things dont fall into your lap.
