melanin is stored in the special cell type called (not surprisingly) melanocytes which are distributed mostly in the lower region of epidermis .Their number is the same in different races but the amount of melanin differs greatly. melanocytes are also present in the ******* races in other tissues and organs such as sclera of the eye, uterus, intestines and heart.

Melanin is stored and used in the melanocytes, a type of skin cell found in the upper dermis of the skin. melanin is the pigment that determines the color of every part of our body. The darker the area, the more melanin it contains.

Seeing as nobody else has said anything about myelin then I will.
Myelin is a lipid rich substance that is made and stored in glial cells known as oligodendrocytes.
These cells wrap themselves like swiss rolls round the axons (long outgrowths) of nerve cells. They act as insulators liike the plastic surrounding wires, and stop the nerve signal being lost along the way.
When you lose the oligodendrocytes then you get diseases like Multiple Sclerosis.

Do you mean melanin? There's also something - mylein- ( Man- I can't spell) Melanin gives you pigmentation. The other one I'm not 100 % sure but I know of it because I know someone who has MS and it has something to do with that. ( How was that for a foggy answer?)
