The chemical forces of attraction that hold atoms or ions together in chemical compounds are called chemical bonds. All chemical bonds result from the simultaneous attraction of one or more electrons by two or more.

An ionic bond is the resulting attraction for an anion and a cation after an electron is transferred from the metal to the non-metal (such as sodium chloride i.e. table salt). What keeps these atoms together is "electrostatic forces".

What? Like an ionic bond?

It's electrostatic force, not electromagnetism.

That's the main force for ionic compounds.

(Covalent compounds "share" electrons)

This answer needs to be spellchecked.

Are you talking about cohesive tension???

More or less (if I am correct when swerving around your spelling)

I believe it is electromagneticity.

Try learning to spell first. You may be referring to cohesive tension.

electromagnetism is right. positive and negative charged molecules attract and form somewhat weak bonds
