They change balls really often. It's because they're worried about the ball being scuffed or damaged during the game. The ump wants to ensure that the game isn't swayed in favor of either team.

It is not every time the ball hits the ground it’s everything the ball becomes scuffed. They do this so that pitchers can’t doctor the ball. This can alter the course of the ball upon being thrown. In addition, this helps the umpires when determining if the ball has had anything else done to it or applied to it

The ball can't contain a scuff or a dent. This makes it harder for the pitcher to grip the ball and it creates a disadvantage as well for the hitter.

Also before the game bat boys rub the ball in mud so it creates a better grip for the pitcher. If it contains a scuff it makes it harder to grip.

they change the balls after it hits the ground sine there might be a scuff on the ball which would benifit the pitcher or it may have loose stiching so it will be replaced right away. no wonder they have so many"game used" baseball for sale.

scuffed up balls will tend to be a wind-resistence. For example, make the ball curve more or drop more.
That also leads to doctoring the ball by pitchers.

MLB players are "to good" to use scuffed balls so MLB uses the balls for either batting pratice or they send the balls to the minor leagues.

The dirt on the ground can effect the pitcher's pitch and can cause him to miss where he is trying to throw the ball.

So the players can't use misshapen or marred balls as an excuse and aren't able to tamper with anything
