If you know how to put together a computer (really not that hard) then build one yourself, it will save you about 2000 dollars or more.
When you buy an Alienware, you are paying for labor and for the prestigous name of "Alienware"
If you like their case designs, wait and look for them on ebay searching "Alienware towers", "Alienware cases," or even "Alienware".
its that simple, plus, if you build your own, you know if anything is wrong, and you don't have to wait 2 months for your computer to come in. If you want parts, look at www.zipzoomfly.com or www.newegg.com
Both combined should have everything you ever need

Unless your going to be a hardcore gamer, you just might want to build your own. Itll save you time and maybe even money. But I went through and did their customize feature and put everything in it that I did with the Dell customize feature and the Dell computer came out cheaper by at least a thousand. So if you dont want to build one, go to the companies site you feel like buying from and build one with their customize features. But Alienware is not a rip off at all. They are a great company with awesome computers.

Brand loyalty is always a hot issue. Some people don't like Alienware because it is now owned by Dell, others don't like them because they used to only sell on the internet but now they can be found at electronic retailers. But if you put all that aside and go purely on product, Alienware does make a good machine that should give you want you want! If you want to go even higher end you could also try Voodoo computers, or Falcon Northwest.

Alienware are famed for their design and high performance. As with most thing these days you pay for the brand. Alienware machines are not cheap. They are a good company and recently Dell bought them.
If you are confident and proficient in computer hardware you can build a high performance machine for far less.
They are a decent company.

Ok. My husband and I bought TWO top of the line gaming laptops (2k each) within the last 18 months.
The proudct is beautiful HOWEVER. I sent mine in for service (I did something to it) and it cost $300 bucks (for shipping and handling!!!! for an $18 part!!!!!), AND took a whole month to get back!
Then my husbands laptop died after 3 weeks and had to be sent back because the memory was shot! They paid for it but it also took 30 days to get it back. The service leaves something to be desired plus it is SUPER expensive. Try some other alternatives.

Excellent hardware, but at a high price. Alienware is only for serious hardcore gamers, its a total ripoff if you don't plan on doing a lot of new games on it

There are too many hardcore gamers that are ignorant already. Even the most hardcore gamers do better (and save more money, thus get to buy more games LOL) by building their own or EVEN having them custom built.
Alienware is just a brand name that catered to the gamer crowd.
