The answer depends upon what type of applications you will be using. Also, it depends upon how many different applications you will be using.
The first answer is because Macs are really good for multimedia and graphics. Professionals, almost all, across the board use Macs. Application suites like, Adobe, Macromedia/Photoshop, InDesign, etc., are written with the Mac in mind. They run better, faster, and easier on the Mac.
The other answer is because there is a lot of software written only for the PC (Windows). Finding equivalient Mac software is becoming easier, but the huge majority of software is written only for the PC.
So, if you are going to use a computer for light activites such as web browsing or office type of stuff (MS Word, Excel, etc.) you can go either way, and I would use cost as the deciding factor. Find the lowest price computer. If you are looking at being able to run anything/everything, buy a PC. If you are looking at graphic or multimedia usage, go Mac.

It depends on what applications you are going to use. MAC is best for Graphic Designs. Everything else is great on PC. Build a PC is cheaper than buying one, u can customize it any way u want.

Pcs are good, and much better than macs. I have always liked pc's much better than a mac

I think it depends on your needs. Macs are great for graphics and those types of programs. PC's are more generally user friendly.

mac is just better with every single thing and if you think that you may like to have the use of windows buy a intel mac and have both os but i think as soon as you start using mac your start using windows less and less untill you hardly ever use it

macs: looks better (does not require a fancy video card), generally more secure, better for a work environment.
pcs: more capabilities, games, more users, a 2 button mouse (lol), and for me; easier to use.
i like pc's

Mac's are usually only purchased for enhanced graphics; therfore you will pay for an expensive graphics card.
