It is a good idea to start out with a pre-pregnancy physical at your doctor's office to make sure you are at your ideal weight and health. All of your past medical history and those of your partner's will be discussed as well. Then your practitioner may reccommend to start a prenatal vitamin with folic acid to prevent neural tube defects when you become pregnant. In general, do not drink alcohol or caffeine, smoke, engage in recreational drugs, or eat a high fat diet. Well balanced meals with representatives from each food group will prepare you to eat well during your pregnancy and will prepare your body for the rigors of pregnancy. Lots of leafy green veggies, lean protein, fruits and carbs are a good place to start. You would be best served to be at your ideal weight before you get pregnant. Good luck!
