It is extremely expensive, but you gotta love those things. They look awesome. Powerwise, they aren't too great though, if you are looking for gaming, get the Dell XPS or Alienware mALX or something along those lines. Dell and Alienware make some of the best mobile computers with power, but ofcourse, it comes with one heck of a large price tag

I am answering this question from a vaio. I have had no problems to speak of with mine. It is the first Sony I have purchased, and I would recommend it over my past Dell laptops.

Not in my opininon. I think that Vaios are cheaply built, good industrial design machines. I have had several of them fail on the following:

a) Cardbus slot power supply stopped providing power to cardbus slot
b) Firewire slot stopped working
c) CD-ROM drive stopped working

I haven't had any issues like those above with Dells, IBMs (haven't tried Lenovo, though), Alienware and Toshiba.

I had one, and while it had its quirks it was a relatively robust machine. It used to get *really* hot though, so it's not really a good "lap" top computer.

When it eventually died - it was because someone blew a fuse and to change it would mean having to change the motherboard, I abandoned it. But it served me for 4 good years.

But if you're looking for value for money, you might want to try another brand, like Dell.

sonys are generally overpriced because well, its a sony.

look at a $2000 sony desktop and compare it to like a $2000 dell desktop. u'll get a whole lot more w/ the dell.

quality is good, however.

It's a great product, but pricey. I have one that I dropped three years ago on the corner: cracked the case but it still runs fine.

Great speed, great graphics, great design. All of which cost you more.
