Yes,it will happen. If someone deserving of the job is an African-American,I applaud it.Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton were never viable candidates. If someone with the intelligence and charisma of Colin Powell will seek the nomination, people will sit up and take notice.I hope and pray we have come far enough in this country to not let the color of skin keep a good man or woman from leading us.Racism is a poor excuse for us in this day and age.I personally believe an African-American president would be a wonderful happening in our country and would provide a huge boost to race relations here and abroad.

Colin Powell could have been elected President. Yes someday an African-American will sit in the Oval Office. Will it be in our lifetime? That remains to be seen. Also could we cool the hype over Sen. Obama? He's barely a year into his Senate term and already people are practically speculating about his Cabinet. Let's see him navigate the rough waters of Washington over the next few years and then make our judgements.

No reason why not anymore but I also tend to agree that a woman will be elected first. I am inclined to believe, however, that a black man will have a better chance if he is a conservative or a moderate. Also, running for vice-president first, regardless of political leaning, could be a tremendous help.

I agree with Neddie- I think Barack Obama would be an excellent president:) He's much smarter than our current president- Editor of the Harvard Law Review is QUITE an accomplishment.

All Colin Powell has to do is declare his intention to run, and he would likely be our first black president. Less so, but perhaps, Condie Rice would be electable not only in Republican primaries, but in a general election... especially if the Dems are stupid enough to put up Hillary Clinton against her...

Neddie...the world does not need Barrack Obamba in the White House. He's a very good speaker....with very little to back it up. Kind of another Clinton.

in america , it ' s too early .
in muslim countries , there ' s no difference between black and white , red and yellow , arabs and non arabs .
i 'm an arabic man , i 'll ve no problem if a malysian or indian or american becomes my president " khalifa " whatever his colour of nationality. he should be a good muslim
that ' s enough for me .
