Adam and Eve were never married; mainly because there were actually seven different Adam's and Eve's. In the beginning, when "god " was still experimenting with the "design" he wanted to use, they were trying many different genetic combinations, so there were many birth mothers and donors. A man just "took" a wife to be his. When tribal chiefs got tired of having other men taking their wives, they came up with a way to declare a women "belonged" to only one man. No one else could have her until the man she was married to no longer wanted her. A man, of course, could have as many wives as he could support.

Definatly not Adam and Eve. God (apparently) is a man. There is no way he would encourage them to get married. He said 'look Adam my man, sleep with her, romance her, even let her have a baby. Oh by the way I want a rib if she has a baby. Then tell her to get your dinner. Just not the apples ok!'
