The word "Cracker" comes from the slave days when slave owners would crack the whip to punish slaves so in a way it's like saying that white people are trying to keep black people down. Some people take offense and some people don't overall it's ignorant to be racist!

It's offensive in the same way "n**ger" is offensive to black people- it's a racial slur. Race shouldn't be an issue at all, and words like that just drag racism on. It's just skin color. There's no reason for people to insult and even hate each other because of it.

well back in slave days the slaves called the "overseeier" cracker because of the crack of his whip.....it became a word thatblacks used to identify the "man"

" cracker " is only offensive if you let it be, i believe everyone was created equal, i personally don't see color when i'm with my friends, i just see alot of good people enjoying each others company.
