I bought a set of 18 inch Enkei RPM2 wheels for my Mustang. They are made from aluminum. All of the wheels are perfect except for one; it has a piece missing on the lip from the previous owner hitting a curb.
The chip goes almost all the way down, and there is very little room left for the bead to seal, but it does. They don't leak sitting still, I did a soapy water test, and they don't ride rough because I've been in the car with them on it at over 100MPH. The guy said he has had them up to 150MPH and taken a 60MPH corner on them in his RSX. The thing is, I'm afraid to sustain speeds like that for fear of the bead popping off - I have no desire to ruin my car over a simple thing like this, it is very expensive.
Is there any way to build the lip back up using a TIG welder or repair it with some other method?

Well, the rims cost $300 apiece brand new and I was going to buy a new one later, but wanted to weld it now to get by. I can get it done for free for sure, because I know lots of people who know lots of other people who work in all kinds of specialty shops.

Okay, how about the paint? They are a gunmetal color, is there any way to blend the weld with the rest of the wheel?
