I told my husband right away, but waited until 4 months, after having passed the critical first trimester and having had amnioscentesis, to tell others.

I told hubby and friends that were with us when I took the test, the day of. Boss found out a couple days later. My mom and grandmother found out a couple days after that. And everyone else found out....well....ok basically everyone knew within a month after my missed period. We didn't hold any secrets back.

I know a lot of people wait until the 'miscarriage danger zone' is over (12 weeks??) but really think about this : first off, you are projecting some negative energy if you are holding off this joyous news in case your baby dies AND if (god forbid) something were to happen to your baby, and no one even knew you were pregnant - there would be no one there to support you through your loss. It can be tremendously hard to lose a baby and you NEED to have people there for you at that time - its one thing for people to know you're pregnant and then find out you lost the baby, they can support you. But if you tell your mom "I was pregnant but I just miscarried" it has a different feel to it, because she didnt have time to attatch herself to the idea of being pregnant. Its just not the same, they can't support you the same way.

Just my thoughts...

My Dr advised me to wait until I was 12 weeks along to tell my son because at that time the chance of miscarriage went down to almost nil. I told my mom as soon as I had my first US and heard the heartbeat at 8 weeks. Keep in mind that once you tell people they're constantly going to start asking questions about how you're feeling, what the dr's saying, if you've felt the baby yet, names, if/when are you finding out the sex of the baby, etc...in hindsight i would have waited! Good Luck!

I told my mother and father the same day that I found out, and of course my husband too. But my parents are very close to me, at the time I was 8 weeks. I didn't tell my friends until I was 12 weeks, and didn't tell my boss at work until I was 4 1/2 months.

I told everyone I knew when I found out and I was about 5-7 weeks. They say you should wait until after the 10 week mark though.

I was 13 weeks when i told people. i read that you should tell people when you feel comfortable with them knowing. The book What to Expect When You are Expecting is wonderful for answering any questions that you have, and it gives you a week to week break down of what you need to do for a healthy pregnancy.

I waited until I was through my first trimester. I wanted to make sure there were not any early complications first. But, I think it depends on what you are comfortable with. If you have other kids who are young or if you have had a previous miscarriage, I know people who waited until longer into the pregnancy to break the news. Do what you feel comfortable with!

With all of my pregnancies I always told my mother and father right away. From that point I just told people as I felt comfortable.
