as for the credit - you may be able to check your credit for free. www.annualcreditreport.com If not, then try, and if you get declined, then you are entitled to a free credit report from the agency which they checked your credit at. Try a trade-in. If you can't afford one, go for a smaller car, ford focus is large on the inside w. good MPG. Volkswagons are great on gas. good luck....oh and if you find someone looking to give one away for free let me know. I thinkyou get a tax break if you do get a hybrid. Maybe you should take that into consideration and look up the law to see if you should wait until later in the year so you can get money for it around tax time....?

every budget has fat in it, even poor ones. For example: buying name brand cereal instead of bagged cereal, buying cigarettes, buying alcohol, renting movies every weekend, getting fast food, etc.

You don't have to cut it all out, just limit it down more. If you smoke and you aren't ready to quit then maybe try smoking one or two a day instead of three or more.

A really easy way to gain money is to open a savings account and every time you make a deposit put an even numbered amount into your checking and cut the top and any change into your savings (ex: deposit check is 49.34, so I deposit 19.34 into savings and 30.00 into checking).

If you want it and are willing to work and wait, you'll get it. maybe sell your current car and buy a bike to ride while you are saving up for the rest of the money for the hybrid?

good luck, and peace out.

Are you sure you want a hybrid? I looked at numbers on this, and even with the tax breaks (you might get more than one and for one year), gas had to go to $6/gal before the money made sense.

We need alternative fuels/vehicles, but they also need to be cheap!

Unless you drive A LOT of miles, hybrids are not cost effective purchases. i.e. they cost more to buy, and it takes a long time to recoup the additional cost in gas savings.

If you're not doing it for the cost- then perhaps you're interested in one for environmental reasons. In that case- you'd be better off moving closer to work so you don't need to drive so much.

Wait ten years and buy a used one. In the meantime, save your money. Used cars are the way to go, and hybrids won't decrease in value very quickly.

if your credit is good, and you have been at a job for a long time, and or you save some money for a good down payment then your monthly payment will be smaller. the more you put down the less you can pay

you make more in a year than the cost of a prius.

and if you think you're poor, you must be living it up elsewhere because i'd kill for $30k a year.
